When we looked closer there was a nest there with two eggs that our birdie is sitting on!! We don't know how much longer we need to wait and be considerate for our new feathery friends, but we look forward to hopefully seeing some baby birds one day!!
It must be pretty stressful for birdie with all the downstairs work going on too!! :(
Sadly, we returned home one Sunday afternoon to find the nest empty with no sign of birdie or egg/shell!! No idea what happened...
ReplyDeleteSince then we have had another 2 birds nests in trees off the verandah. In one, a bird hatched from an egg, but was abandoned by mother bird and was found dead along with the unborn sibling! Very sad, but we did give them both a family burial together.
The other nest was quite distressing in that a crow came and stole the egg from the nest whilst all the little birds "skwarked" (??) in protest not able to scare him away with their tiny size!!
Anyway, I suppose ... that's life!!!
